Hotaruika (Firefly Squid) Sightseeing Tour
Annually offered in spring, the season for "hotaruika" (firefly squid), this firefly squid sightseeing tour provides you with a first-hand experience of fishing a shoal of several hundreds of thousands of firefly squids. Only a few centimeters in length, each emits bright light over 30cm in all directions, creating a fantastic world of light in the sea.

Hotaruika (firefly squid) Museum
As the only one of its kind in the world, the Hotaruika Museum offers visitors the chance to have an interactive experience with "hotaruika" and learn what firefly squids are all about. Its various facilities include the "Illusion Theater" (with the mysterious light of firefly squids as its theme) and the "Live Theater" (where you can enjoy the light emitting show of firefly squids from March 20 to May 31).

Deep Seawater Experiencing Facility "Thalassopia"
This facility uses Toyama Bay seawater from depth of over 300 meters for health promotion, and is the fisrt of its kind in the world. The "Thalassopia" facility consists of two zones: the "Healing Zone" where you can experience "thalassotherapy" (health and beauty therapy using naturally available marine resources such as seawater and sea algae) and the "Dynamic Zone" equipped with a Jacuzzi.

Toyama Folkcraft Village&Gohyakurakan
All aspects of Toyama's history and culture are on display at the folk art museum, ceramic art museum, folklore museum center, medicine peddler museum, and other buildings in this village setting. You can also stroll through the grounds of the adjacent Chokeiji, where more than 500 stone statues of Rakan, Buddha's disciples, are enshrined.

Toyama Clay Doll Craftsmen's Workshop
Dating back to the Edo period (1600-1868), Toyama's traditional handicraft, "Clay Dolls", are famous as toys and good luck talismans ("engi-mono"). To preserve this traditional handicraft for generations to come, the Toyama Clay Doll Craftsmen's Workshop displays and sells these clay dolls characterized by their simplistic beauty, as well as offers visitors the chance to experience painting clay dolls made in the workshop.

Jinzukyo

Matsukawa River Yuran-sen (boat excursion)
As one way to enjoy the seasonal scenery of Toyama, including its spring cherry blossoms, you can take a hand-rowed boat excursion departing from a platform located in Joshi-Koen (Toyama Castle Park, the symbol of Toyama Prefecture). A cruise on the Matsukawa River, flowing through the center of the city, allows for an exciting tour as you pass under seven bridges.

Etchu Yatsuo Tourist Hall

Yatsuo's giant hikiyama festival floats have been the town's cultural prizes for about 250 years. They are on permanent display at this exhibition hall. Large groups can also make reservations to see owara dancing.

Yatsuo Owara Museum
Built to pass down the tradition of "Owara Kaze no Bon" (the symbolic festival of Yatsuo Town) for generations to come, this museum preserves and displays many documents and materials on the festival, including its historical background, dance and song. The museum also has exhibits such as a replica of a typical Yatsuo traditional tradesman's house (in which the essence of the "Owara" festival originates) and a film exhibition room where you can experience the "Owara" dance through moving images.
